To get started with WebMaker you need to create a Workspace and a Project. Each Workspace can contain multiple projects and each project is typically deployed as a Web Application. When you start WebMaker for the first time you will need to create a workspace by typing in a name and clicking the New button.
Once the workspace is created you can select the workspace to arrive at the Application Types screen. For web application development you will typically select the Web Application option. For some installations of WebMaker you may not see the Application Types screen, depending on your configuration.
You can manage projects using the Available Projects tab. Using this tab you can create new projects and also Import and Export projects. This provides a convenient method for sharing and archiving WebMaker projects. You can also Copy and Delete projects from this tab.
Once you have created or imported a suitable project, you can click through and start working with the project. The project details are shown within the eXtensible Design Environment (XDE), which deals with most of the server-side development aspects of WebMaker, including rules composition, application packaging and deployment, communication protocols, message tracking, etc. For WebMaker applications you will very rarely need to navigate further from the Project Details tab within XDE. You can start some additional tools to help you build, deploy and test WebMaker applications. You will find these tools and additional options listed along the top of the Project tab. To start creating the overall application map, click one of the FormMaker links.
