Under Data Constraints you can tick fields that you want to designate as mandatory. To activate validation, select the field against which you have defined a submit event. You should find a Validate checkbox. Ticking this box will ensure all mandatory fields are checked before submission. You can style mandatory fields differently to make them standard out from optional fields. You can use the Mark Mandatory Fields section within the Field Details tab.
