WebMaker Studio is a web based application that is accessed through a web browser. It will work with modern tab based browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7 and above, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. The FormMaker design environment needs an SVG Viewer (Scalable Vector Graphics), so if you are using Internet Explorer (which does not provide native SVG support) one will need to be installed. Version 3 of the Adobe SVG Viewer can be freely downloaded from Adobe, but should be automatically installed when you first launch the studio in this case. Please note: Applications created using WebMaker result in standard XHTML, CSS and Javascript and can be used within most popular browsers, including Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari, Chrome and others. Basic Installation Your download of the MVC WebMaker installation package should contain a single file named MVC_WebMaker_m-n_Enterprise.exe, where m and n demote major and minor version numbers. You can click on this file to start the installation process and follow the on-screen instructions. The first screen of the installer will contain some Welcome information, showing the number of installation steps and the MVC WebMaker version number. Click Next for the next step. WebMaker Installation In the second step you should see the License Agreement. You must accept the terms of the license agreement to proceed further. If you do not wish to accept the terms then you can Quit at this stage. You should have received either an Evaluation license or a Full license depending on the method you used to obtain the MVC WebMaker software. WebMaker Installation The next step will show you the installation location of any Existing Installations of WebMaker. This location is useful to enable selection of existing projects that may need migration. You can use the Select different installation link to change the location of your current installation. You can also tick to indicate whether you wish to uninstall the current version (in almost all cases you should select the default option, which should already be ticked). You should also notice that a second tick box enables you to decide whether to migrate any existing projects from the existing installation you selected earlier to the new version. Important Please ensure you either export existing projects, keep a copy of the existing repository or choose the migrate option to prevent loss of projects. WebMaker Installation In the next step you can confirm the location of your new installation. If you chose to migrate existing projects then this will be performed first, followed by the uninstall process of the current version if you chose the uninstall option. You will receive on-screen progress information as these tasks are performed. Please be patient during this part of the installation process because it can take some time, depending on the number of projects you have created. The next step will confirm the installation directory for the new installation. WebMaker Installation In the next step you will have to specify the location of the licence file. You should browse to the location where you stored the licence file when you downloaded WebMaker. You should have received this file from either the automated registration server or from a Hyfinity representative. The file should be named in the format ..._licence.hyf WebMaker Installation Once you have selected the licence file you will be prompted to select some XML and Java Editors for use within the design environment. You can choose editors of your choice or leave the Operating System to select the most appropriate Editors, based on your installation environment. You can manually change these options after the installation process if required. WebMaker Installation As you build web applications you may need to make calls to services that reside outside your firewall. If you have proxy servers that restrict such outgoing calls then you can specify the relevant proxy information during this step. You can also change this information after the installation process if required. WebMaker Installation At this stage the installation process will start and you should see the progress information on screen. WebMaker Installation Once the installation has completed you will be asked to select the Shortcut name for the windows menus, followed by an Installation Finished message. You should be able to start WebMaker from the standard windows menu. WebMaker Installation Important Note:If you are using WebMaker as an integrated product with other software technologies then you should start the WebMaker design studio from the relevant application with the host environment. This is to ensure all parameters necessary for WebMaker to function correctly are provided by the host application. Otherwise certain host application-specific WebMaker features may not be available or function incorrectly. The default installation for the Runtime XPlatform and the Design XStudio is now complete. You can consult the WebMaker Installation & Administration Guide and the Hyfinity FAQ (http://www.hyfinity.net/faq) for more advanced installation and configuration options.
