In order to run and test the applications constructed using XStudio, they need to be Deployed or Published to a runtime environment. The default product installation contains a separate runtime server, and the Deployment process makes it easy to deploy applications to this environment for testing. You will typically use the Deployment option during development and testing of projects. When a project has been tested you can use the Publication option to package a single project or a collection of projects for different target environments. A target environment may be Tomcat or a WAR file for example. Within different areas of the studio (eg RuleMaker and FormMaker) there are deploy buttons to quickly perform a deploy operation, however the full options are available through the deployment and publication screens accessed by clicking the Deploy and Publish link from the Project screen. When you click this link you will notice two tabs, one for Deployment and one for Publication.
